Possible Interactions

Passionflower may interact with the following medications:

Sedatives (drugs that cause sleepiness)

passionflower may make the effects of sedative medications stronger. These medications include:

• Anticonvulsants such as phenytoin (Dilantin)
• Barbiturates
• Benzodiazepines, such as alprazolam (Xanax) and diazepam (Valium)
• Drugs for insomnia, such as zolpidem (Ambien), zaleplon (Sonata), eszopiclone (Lunesta), ramelteon (Rozerem)
• Tricyclic antidepressants, such as amitriptyline (Elavil), amoxapine, doxepin (Sinequan), and nortriptyline (Pamelor)

Antiplatelets and anticoagulants (blood thinners)

Passionflower may increase the amount of time blood needs to clot, so it could make the effects of blood-thinning medications stronger and increase your risk of bleeding. Blood-thinning drugs include:

• Clopidogrel (Plavix)
• Warfarin (Coumadin)
• Aspirin

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors or MAOIs)

MAO inhibitors are an older class of antidepressants that are not often prescribed now. Theoretically, passionflower might increase the effects of MAOIs, as well as their side effects, which can be dangerous. These drugs include:

• Isocarboxazid (Marplan)
• Phenelzine (Nardil)
• Tranylcypromine (Parnate)

Chamomile - CHAMOMILE ORGANIC | Star Child

Possible Interactions

• People are more likely to experience allergic reactions to chamomile if they’re allergic to related plants such as ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds, or daisies.
• Chamomile might have some of the same effects as estrogen. Preliminary studies suggest that taking chamomile along with birth control pills might decrease the effects of birth control pills. In addition, chamomile might worsen any condition that is sensitive to exposure to estrogen, such as breast or uterine cancer.
• Interactions between chamomile and some drugs metabolized by the liver and warfarin (a blood thinner) have been reported, and there are theoretical reasons to suspect that chamomile might interact with other drugs as well, such as sedatives. If you take any type of medicine, talk with your health care provider before using chamomile or other herbal products; some herbs and medicines interact in harmful ways.=

One study warned that California poppy extract and its alkaloids, including escholtzine and allocryptopine, may interact with certain drugs. These include blood thinners like warfarin and blood pressure medications like metoprolol
